ONE ROOM CHALLENGE FALL 2022 – WEEK TWO

We are in week two ALREADY and the Concept Board Approved!! I’m going for modern warrior woman vibes here. Let’s get into our Conceptual Phase!

I am Star the Founder + Creative Director of Rejuvenation Home Studio. I established RHS in 2018, based in Central Florida. We are a full service interior design firm specializing in luxury residential and boutique commercial projects.

WHAT IS THE DESIGN 9

Every project starts with a concept. In this case my client (me) gave us a few Wants & Needs checklist and we take it from there! Its all about creating a vibe by merging the spirit of your personality and style with the essence of the space we are designing for to give it new energy and soul. Please see the previous post from week one for more details.

#ProjectORCArmouredInBeauty is taking shape and I cold not be more pleased. I actually had to slow myself down in my own process. You know the saying, “Doctors make the worst patience” well so does Interior Designers as clients.

Right after our “Purposeful Design Consultation” and “Programming” we go right in the conceptual phase. We start with concept words and phrases and a Design 9 concept board is a representation of each one of the following design elements:

• Color
• Style
• Texture
• Material
• Product
• Pattern
• Cohesion
• Lighting
• Accessories

This is the tool is a compilation of the images from the Pinterest Board created by the client and used as a visual direction map to source all products and provides a clear design direction for every decision that has to be made and allow me to us to easily eliminate what doesn’t belong. Once product becomes more finalized a more defined product mood board will be created.

So why 9, you maybe asking, according to Cosmopolitan it represents completion, although not a final ending—more like the fulfillment of one cycle so that you can prepare to initiate the next one. I truly believe that is the best definition of a concept.

THE BEFORE – PROGRAMMING

The current flooring is stained concrete. I loved this floor for years because it held up beautifully to the wear and tear of raising four children. We are now excited about adding a modern vinyl plank. We started with the bedrooms and working our way into the main living areas now.
