ONE ROOM CHALLENGE FALL 2022 – WEEK THREE
Already?!! Man, oh man is time flying by. We finally had our Contractor come out to complete his scope of work. We are officially in the Design Specification Phase. This is where the quick sketches now quickly become elevations with detailed measures and renderings with full materials and product specifications.
I am Star the Founder + Creative Director of Rejuvenation Home Studio. I established RHS in 2018, based in Central Florida. We are a full service interior design firm specializing in luxury residential and boutique commercial projects.
MATERIALS MATTER
It is so important to obtain material samples of products you plan to use whenever you can. The color on the screen is NEVER correct. It will never give materiality needs such as sheen or feel. We do our best to gather paint, flooring, millwork, wallpaper, fabrics, etc… This is why good design takes time! It is imperative to get an in-person visual on how each material is talking to the other. More important, you have to see how they read in the space they are being designed for. Just because it looks good on the hanger doesn’t mean it will look good on you! This is a good way to try before you buy.
PRODUCT MOOD BOARD
Last week, we introduced the Design 9 Concept Board. This week we are sharing the Product Mood Board. It’s another visual tool to communicate the cohesion of curated products to our client (me).
We are super excited about he wallpaper and artwork we have specified. We are even more excited about the architectural updates with the millwork and door hardware. Even though the doors are going to be one panel shaker style door the crown, door frames and chair rial will be just a little more ornate. Do you see that door hardware? Yazzz…. jewelry!! What a great way to instantly elevate a room by updating the door hardware.
There are a few other items we still need to acquire, such as a rug runner and a matching round rug. We are pondering on a special piece of art from my inspiration photo and playing with what do above the console as far as storage like floating shelves or something. I have large paint samples on the way so we can choose the perfect paint to great our faux painted grass cloth walls.
